This may be as a result of
development, trauma, breast feeding or disease. Correction may be performed under local or general
anaesthesia.
The surgery is done using very short inconspicuous incisions
at the edge of the inverted nipple. The shortened bands that tether the inverted nipple are gently
released to allow the nipple to evert. Care is taken not to damage the milk
ducts.
Sutures are inserted to maintain eversion and a protective
splint is used for 7 days.
